In conjunction with the sessionography, we are also releasing selected transcriptions of Beach Boys tracks. These scores are meticulous renderings of the vocal and instrumental arrangements that appear on the original records, transcribed over the last decades (literally) and now ready for public study. As part of the Pet Sounds 60th celebrations, we are going to make the scores for every Pet Sounds track available roughly when the sessionography for that song is released, including non-LP tracks from that era, namely “The Little Girl I Once Knew” and “Trombone Dixie.”
Initially, scores will be available through SheetMusicDirect, but other options are being explored as we figure out the best way to get this resource to you! Links to purchasable scores will appear here, and on the song’s sessionography page. In a perfect world, we could make these scores free, but selling them through the proper channels honors the copyright holders and keeps the whole endeavor above board!
Future plans include complete Smile Sessions scores, and select scores from other eras.
